finally, after about a month, here are some pictures of our little - too short - trip through part of argentina. we wanted to do so much more but we soon realized that the time we would spend in buses was about half of what we had. add to that technical problems and other mishaps and wouw! another day disappears into the void. but it's ok, let's not complain, we still had the chance to see amazing things. let's start with a little map showing the places we went to (because we wanted to, but also those which we were only supposed to go through).
on the first week, we went to uruguay. we didn't stay long, but long enough to find out that there was nothing to do in montevideo (except being compared to naomi campbell. not me, hè). but i already posted something about this little trip so, next: mendoza. (17 hours from buenos aires, by bus). but here again, there's already a post.
next stop: san martin de los andes. i don't remember how long it took to get there but i'd say too long! most likely around 20 hours. and then... that's when things started to go wrong (as to transportations).
we checked the schedule for the wrong day (anyway, i assumed that those buses were running everyday) so when we arrived in esquel, we realized that we would have to spend the night there since the bus which would take us to el calafate was only running the following afternoon. in esquel, if you don't visit to the national park, there not much to do.
we boarded the bus to el calafate at around 1 pm, expecting to arrive the next day roughly at the same time. that was without counting on an engine breakdown in sarmiento where we got stuck for five hours (we were not even in the city or next to the dinosaur park! so we stayed in the bus cos staying outside meant being eaten alive by a gang of raging mosquitoes. but it's ok, an excellent movie selection awaited us: eat, pray, love; dear john; g.i. joe. if you haven't seen those, you should run to the closest videoshop. they deserve to be bought and seen dozens of times every year).
in the end, instead of spending two days in el calafate, we only had one. we went to the glaciers (of course!!!) where it was not that cold. not even cold at all!
on the following day, we could have done many things, had we known that we would have to spend the whole afternoon in the airport because our flight was delayed by 5 hours. that was bad BUT this way, we landed by night and got to fly over lit buenos aires.
